Nigeria moves to end $6bn annual textile imports from China, India for economic growth, job creation

In consolidating the ongoing efforts at reviving the domestic textile industry and its value chains while promoting ‘Made in Nigeria’ products, the Federal Government is planning to end the annual textile imports worth $6 billion from China and India.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ learnt John Enoh, Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI), who disclosed this development during a recent three-day tour of industries in Lagos and Ogun states, affirmed the Nigerian Government’s key agenda includes economic growth through manufacturing and job creation, especially for young people.

He also emphasised the current administration’s key agenda includes economic growth through manufacturing and job creation for Nigerians, report said.

The Minister also stated: “The Benin Republic has a flourishing textile garment industry, and their target is the Nigerian market.â€
