Sequel to her recent suspension from the Nigerian Senate, in the National Assembly (NASS), Abuja, FCT, and subsequent ban on her participation in all legislative activities for six months, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan from Kogi Central Senatorial District, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, took her case to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting (IPU), at the United Nations, in New York, United States (US).

It is recalled the Senate suspended the Kogi Central lawmaker last week, accusing her of violating its extant rules days after she submitted a petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, at the Women in Parliament session held at the Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting (IPU), at the UN, in New York, is seeking justice and the intervention of global democratic institutions, according to reports.

She is demanding “justice” over what she described as “injustice” meted out to her over what the Upper Legislative Chamber of NASS has described as her disorderly behaviour and gross disrespect for the Senate rules.

Natasha, however, in post via her verified social media account has described her suspension from the Senate as “illegal”.

After her speech at the Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting (IPU), at the UN Tuesday, she expressed worry about her security report stated.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also claimed there are indications that she may be held against her will in New York, US, for speaking up on the issue at the global event by “the powers that be” from Nigeria, a report noted.
