Following “actionable intelligence” on the existence and operations of the Academy, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Monday, March 24, 2025, busted a Ponzi Scheme Academy, and arrested 133 suspects, in Abuja, FCT.

The EFCC disclosed its operatives arrested the suspects at the Compensation Layout, in Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The anti-graft regulatory Commission also said the Academy, named Q University (a.k.a Q-Net) is in the business of recruiting gullible young Nigerians who are trained to recruit more gullible citizens into the scheme with the promise of getting unrealistic profit returns.

Mr. Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity at EFCC, who revealed this in a statement Monday, noted that the suspects are enrolled into a training codenamed: “Special Training for New Generation Billionaire”, and brainwashed to believe that they would graduate into the league of billionaires in the West African country.

As regards the mode of operations of the Academy, Oyewale explained the trainees got into the sham training programme by obtaining a form the promoters called “Independent Representative Application Form” with promotional slogans, such as: “I’m a Champion” “I’m Unstoppable”, and “I’m Infinity”, among others.

The statement further noted the EFCC executed the sting operation in collaboration with Officers and Men of 176 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army (NA).

The EFCC Head of Media and Publicity as well the operatives recovered several electronic gadgets, including phones, computers, and others from the suspects.

They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded, the statement added.
