Digital Economy: Stakeholders review draft to validate Nigeria’s E-commerce Policy and Strategy

The Federal Government is taking strategic steps towards aligning its digital trade policies with the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA).

The stakeholders the measure moves were made with a view to enhancing Nigeria’s position in Africa’s digital economy.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) disclosed this latest effort held at a recent stakeholders’ engagement on the review and validation of the draft National E-Commerce Policy and Strategy (NEPS), in Abuja, FCT.

NITDA noted the forum was organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) and Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI).

The Information Technology (IT) sector regulatory agency, in a post via its verified social media account Thursday, March 27, 2025, also explained “the initiative seeks to maximise economic opportunities and drive national development through e-commerce and digital transactions in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Speaking at the event, Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA, represented by Engr. Salisu Kaka (PhD), Director of the eGovernment and Digital Economy Development Department, highlighted the transformative role of e-commerce in reshaping industries and fostering economic growth in the country.
