Methodist Church lauds OGWAMA for clean environment in Ogun

The Methodist Church Nigeria, Egba Diocese, in Ogun State, has commended the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) for improved and effective waste management, the effort which has kept the ‘Gateway State’ clean.

Most Reverend Dr. Adegbemi Adewale, Bishop of the Diocese and Archbishop of RIYE, gave this commendation while delivering his State of the Nation and the Ogun State Address at the end of the 43rd Annual Synod – the Administrative and Judicial Meeting of the Church.

The event, which had the theme, “He will Arise Again”, held at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Asero Model Assembly, in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Most Revd. Adewale said the efforts of the environment regulatory authority, especially its operational units that keeps the state clean, are worthy of commendation.

The cleric also urged the Management and Staff of OGWAMA, and the entire environment family to not rest on their laurels.

Encouraging the residents of Ogun State to support the commendable efforts of OGWAMA for a clean environment across the state, Adewale urged them to containerise their wastes and stop indiscriminate dumping of waste on roadsides, drainage channels and public places for a much cleaner, healthier and safer environment.

In his message to traders in various markets across the state, the cleric urged them to clean their environment regularly and dispose of their wastes properly, according to standard regulations from the authority.

He equally took the opportunity to thank the Lagos State Government (LASG) for hosting the 22nd Edition of the National Sports Festival.

As the Chairman of the Ogun State Paralympic Tennis Association, Adewale as well Ogun State residents to show the best of their hospitality to thousands of athletes, officials, visitors, and tourists that would converge on the state for the Nigeria version of the Olympics Games.

Most Reverend Adewale further reminded the state government of the need to adequately maintain the modern facilities provided for the festival, for the overall future development of sports in the Gateway State.
