General Motors (GM) is recalling 62,468 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty trucks from model years 2019 to 2024 because of a potentially serious fire hazard.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the automobile manufacturer’s current recall affects the 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD trucks, whose brake pressure sensor assemblies may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch, causing an electrical short.

The company noted this defect could lead to overheating and, in some cases, fires—even when the vehicle is parked.

GM, therefore, urged affected vehicle owners to park their trucks outside and away from structures until repairs are complete.

The automobile giant said dealers would replace the brake pressure switch wire harness at no cost to consumers.

Interim notifications will go out starting July 28, 2025, with a follow-up once a permanent fix is ready.

Recently, automakers announced major recalls impacting hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to fire risks, power failures, and airbag defects.

Some safety hazards are major, some aren’t, but all should be remedied, agency report also said.

Automakers have issued a fresh round of safety recalls affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the United States (US).

From fire hazards and potential crashes to improperly secured sunroofs, this week’s recalls underscore ongoing challenges as automobile manufacturers navigate complex vehicle systems and evolving technology.
