Following the announced periodic critical maintenance work, Ikeja Electric (IKEDC) Plc Friday, August 1, 2025, announced a 25-day scheduled power outage that affects parts of Lagos State, effective from Monday, July 28 to Thursday, August 21 this year.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Ikeja Electric, which disclosed this development via the company’s verified official social media handles, noted that the temporary blackout is for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to facilitate critical maintenance work by on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

The outage is said to be part of the TCN’s broader efforts at enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the national grid infrastructure.

It is also to ensure improved service delivery upon the completion of the project, according to IKEDC.

The public notice for electricity consumers also informed about the power interruption would occur daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the maintenance period within its network across Lagos State.

The electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) further cautioned that power consumers to anticipate intermittent power supply and load shedding during the period, as the maintenance activities are expected to disrupt the usual electricity distribution across its network.

The DisCo noted: “Please be informed that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line from Monday, July 28 to Thursday, August 21, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.

“During this period, customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across our network due to the planned TCN outage.â€

It is, however, observed that the service provider did not specify the particular areas to be affected.

Electricity consumers in the Ikeja Electric network zone spread across several key parts of Lagos including Ikeja, Alimosho, Agege, Ogba, parts of Ikorodu, as well as Akute, Ajuwon and Alagbole, in Ogun State, are equally advised to prepare for the disruption, and make alternative arrangements where necessary.

Ikeja Electric, therefore, urged consumers to remain patient and understanding throughout the maintenance period.

The DisCo assured stakeholders of working closely with TCN to minimise the impact on power supply, while ensuring speedy completion of the maintenance work.
