The Federal Government has condemned the recent dangerous safety breach involving musician King Wasiu Omagbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), popularly known as K1 De Ultimate and domestic airline ValueJet, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, FCT.

The government described KWAM 1’s suicidal behaviour Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Abuja Airport unacceptable, noting this is “akin to a hostage situation.”

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Wasiu Ayinde, a.k.a. KWAM 1, created an absurd scene both aboard and on the ground Tuesday, as he physically attempted to stop a ValueJet plane from taxing for a takeoff at the Abuja Airport terminal.

Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, Honourable Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, stated this in connection with a video footage released on the incident.

Sequel to the popular musician’s irresponsible behaviour, the Minister Thursday, August 7, directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to place Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, on “no-fly list” in the country’s aviation space.

Keyamo, who also shared this directive via his verified official X handle @fkeyamo Thursday, ordered the NCAA to immediately notify both domestic and International airlines of the ban on KWAM 1.

Besides, any operator who flouts the directive risks withdrawal of operating licence in Nigeria, said the Minister.

Earlier, the incident, which involved KWAM 1 and two pilots of ValueJet Airlines, had led to the immediate suspension of professional licences of the airline’s affected pilots.

The pilots are identified as Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba.

In his remarks on the incident, Minister Keyamo as well condemned the behaviour of both KWAM 1, and the two pilots during the incident.

Keyamo: Airport incident a case of temporary loss of sanity, control

Keyamo said that his preliminary impression of the incident was a case of temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides, adding that this could have led to serious fatalities.

He further affirmed: “I have received reports from all the relevant aviation agencies regarding the altercation between the staff and crew of ValueJet and Kwam 1 at Abuja airport on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with video footage of the incident.

“Contrary to what the agents of KWAM 1 have said, he constantly moved his position on the tarmac to actually block the aircraft from taxiing to take position on the runway for take-off.”

The Minister asserted: “This is a totally unacceptable behaviour.

“The issue of whether he was carrying water or alcohol is not even an issue at this point.”

He explained: “It is the physical blockage of the aircraft from taxiing that is the reprehensible conduct here which is akin to a hostage situation.

“The actual video footage showing this recalcitrant behaviour is hereby attached.”

According to Keyamo, no amount of provocation ought to make the captain and co-pilot of an aircraft to begin to taxi without security personnel having safely moved an unruly passenger away from the front of an aircraft.

Both sides, the Minister restated, breached standard safety protocols, as required by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
