NCC welcomes new Board members, restates commitment to Nigeria Digital Economy

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has congratulated Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe, Chairman-designate of the Commission’s Board, other distinguished designate-Board members, as well as the newly-appointed members of the Board of Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) on their recent appointments.

Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO), who stated this Thursday, August 14, 2025, via his verified social media account, said the telecoms sector regulatory Commission “expresses its profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for these appointments, and looks forward to working closely with its supervising Ministry and the Board to deliver on the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigeria’s digital economy.â€

Maida said that the new leadership teams on the Boards of NCC and USPF, as constituted by the President, “comprises highly esteemed individuals of proven competence, with vast experience and impressive track records.â€

The EVC/CEO further stated: “Their collective expertise is expected to steer the communications industry in the right direction, providing the impetus to further transform Nigeria’s digital economy.

“They will bring to bear their wealth of knowledge, strategic insight, and strong governance to enhance the regulatory work of the Commission.â€

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ had reported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Tuesday, August 12, 2025, approved new members of the Boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission and the Universal Service Provision Fund.

The two communications agencies under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE).

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated this Tuesday, said President Tinubu had approved Mr. Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Board of NCC, while Dr. Aminu Maida remains the Commission’s Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of NCC.
