The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed its readiness to host the inaugural edition of the Digital Awareness and Sensitisation Fora.

The NCC said the programme will serve as a veritable platform to strengthen policy and innovation for a digital future.

The Commission also noted that the fora are planned to facilitate a conducive environment to build Infrastructure for innovation and inclusion towards laying a solid foundation for bridging gaps between policy and infrastructure for national development.

Nnenna Ukoha, Head of Public Affairs at NCC, in a statement Sunday, November 9, 2025, said the telecoms sector regulator had scheduled the maiden edition of the initiative with the theme: “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment鈥�, for Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The NCC stated the fora would attract industry experts, policymakers, and community stakeholders to brainstorm practical solutions for bridging the digital divide in the Nigerian ecosystem.

The statement further explained the sessions at the inaugural forum are expected to focus on designing inclusive digital policies, promoting accessible infrastructure deployment, developing adaptive digital literacy programmes and advocating for affordability and accessibility in digital services.

According to the Commission, Africa has the world鈥檚 youngest population, with 60 percent of its people under the age of 25.

The NCC affirmed that with Nigeria鈥檚 great contribution to this figure, it recognises this asset, and the Commission is committed to leveraging the untapped potential of this demography while including the rest of the populace in the digital environment.

NCC highlights significance of inclusive digital economy

Besides its commitment to ensuring the safety of over 140 million Internet subscribers, the NCC said the proposed sensitisation was designed also to highlight the strategic importance of inclusive participation in the Nigeria Digital Economy.

The platform is equally aimed at attracting the key stakeholders from regulatory bodies, academia, private sector, and development partners to deliberate on how digital access and innovation could be harnessed to empower underserved communities, drive equity, and promote national development.

Why Digital Awareness and Sensitisation Fora initiative?

The telecoms regulatory Commission has described the Digital Awareness and Sensitisation Fora as a collaborative effort of the communications industry and stakeholders, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS).

Ukoha also revealed others are the Association of Telecommunications Operators on Nigeria (ATCON), FinTechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), Secondary Education Board (SEB), National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONWAD) Imose Technologies and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The upcoming event slated for November 13 will feature panel discussions, exhibitions by innovators, FinTech organisations and students, NCC stated.

The forum, the statement noted, is expected to create an environment to showcase innovations that reflect the creativity and potential of Nigeria鈥檚 digital ecosystem.

The occasion will be livestreamed via a dedicated portal at scf.ncc.gov.ng in order to ensure nationwide access and participation, stated the NCC Head of Public Affairs.
