Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA, lauded the First Lady’s support.

Inuwa affirmed that the ICT training programme reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in economic diversification, scaling human capital development, and enhancing digital inclusivity in Nigeria.

The Director-General also restated NITDA’s commitment to building a digitally empowered economy.

He further said technology thrives on skilled people which has necessitated the development of the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF), aimed at achieving 95 percent digital literacy by 2030, with a mid-term target of 70 percent by 2027.

The Information Technology (IT) sector regulatory agency noted that the participants had completed three weeks of intensive training covering device and software use, content creation, digital marketing, online safety, and basic problem-solving.

Inuwa, in highlighting the programme’s growth, said the 35 women were trained in 2023, 252 in 2024, and 320 in 2025, totalling over 600 women.

Under the current administration, the NITDA Chief Executive has trained over 1,000,143 Nigerians, including 32,000 civil servants in digital literacy and skills, said he.

The Director-General as well urged beneficiaries to return to their communities, apply their new skills, and mentor at least two to three other women.

The event closed with appreciation from participants, who are now better equipped to thrive in the emerging Nigeria Digital Economy.
