*IMC鈥檚 efforts at defending the indefensible acts smack of either deep ignorance or scantiness of facts, says High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich

Lending credence to the authenticity of the contents of his earlier petition to the National Assembly (NASS) in Nigeria, High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) COVID-19 Palliatives Distribution Committee, has declared that he possesses evidence to prove his allegations of diversion of N6.25bn COVID-19 palliatives for the indigent people of the Niger Delta region.

Jackrich, in a statement in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, at the weekend urged the agency鈥檚 Interim Management Committee (IMC) to rather hold its peace and prepare to defend itself before the Federal Legislature when the time comes.

The NDDC COVID-19 Palliatives Distribution Committee Chairman also dismissed the suggestion that he must have submitted a petition on the purported diversion of palliative meant for the people in order to blackmail the Interim Management Committee, headed by Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei.

While insisting that he has evidence to support every allegation contained in his petition, the High Chief, who is also the Founder and President of Kengema Unity Forum (KUF), described the response of the IMC to his petition as amusing.

He maintained that it was ridiculous for the Commission to refer to him as the 鈥渆rstwhile鈥� Chairman of the Palliative Committee.

The IMC failed to deny any of the allegations contained in the petition, including payment of scam contractors and denial of payments to genuine uncompromising contractors by the IMC, he stated.

鈥淭he unwholesome efforts by the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the NDDC to defend the indefensible acts of the IMC in the face of the overwhelming scandals and allegations smack either deep ignorance or scantiness of facts on their part.

鈥淚t will be rather most dignifying for the NDDC to wait to defend themselves in the National Assembly probe when scheduled, so they do not destroy their almost unavailable chances of justifying their malfeasance because I have evidence for every allegations contained in my petition.鈥�

He further stated that 鈥渁t the appropriate time, the IMC shall explain themselves and account for every kobo approved in the N6.25billion by His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari for the benefit of the indigent people of the Niger Delta who have now been denied.

鈥淓very claim on the purchase of the so-called medical equipment contained in their response remains false and all such distributions to states are absolutely misleading because our evidence will expose it.

鈥淚s it not curious that a Committee properly constituted, inaugurated and task flagged off has suddenly become non-existent and 鈥榬edundant鈥�, according to them just because a demand for probity and accountability is instituted?鈥�
