Ukraine Invasion: France freezes €850million of Russian oligarchs’ assets

France has frozen and seized assets of Russian oligarchs to the tune of around 850 million euros (938 million dollars) following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

It was gathered French Economy Minister Bruno disclosed that the property worth 539 million Euros had been blocked.

Bruno stated another 150 million Euros from private accounts at French banks have been frozen while two yachts worth 150 million Euros have been seized, agency report said.

France established a taskforce to implement European Union’s (EU) sanctions against Russian oligarchs or those close to President Vladimir Putin.

Report further indicates the taskforce is mandated with the task of finding the affected Russian leaders’ assets in France, and identifying the owners of bank accounts, luxury villas and yachts, which is a complicated endeavour due to the many shell companies used to hide identities.

Russia-Ukraine War: Kyiv Mayor announces fresh curfew

In a related development, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko has announced a new curfew for the Ukrainian capital later Monday, March 21, 2022, that would last until Wednesday morning.

The curfew “will begin at 8:00 p.m. (1800 GMT) and last until 7:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) on March 23,â€

Klitschko reportedly stated the latest directive to the people via a post in Telegram.
