Amid the troubles besetting the West African country’s aviation industry, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reminded the indigenous airline operators of payment of N19billion debts.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ learnt Capt. Musa Nuhu, Director-General of NCAA, Tuesday, August 30, 2022, threatened that the aviation regulator would not hesitate to suspend the Certificates of Air Operator’s (AOC) of any defaulting airlines.

Nuhu stressed this much at a briefing with members of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and ground handlers Tuesday, in Lagos.

The Director-General of the country’s aviation regulatory agency said any indebted airline must enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for payment.

He also noted that any airline that defaults three times will have its AOC suspended.

The  airline operators, Nuhu noted, are painting the relevant government agencies black over their current woes.

According to him, affected domestic airlines have collected over N19 billion and did not remit same to the NCAA for onward distribution

Meanwhile, the NCAA and other agencies are set to review agency charges after 13 years, Nuhu said.
