Cybersecurity: Nigerian Government inaugurates Police National Cybercrime Centre

As part of efforts at combating cybercrime and advancing the Nigeria digital economy in the ecosysytem, the Federal Government has commissioned the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), in Abuja, FCT.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Dr. ’Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, performed the official commissioning of the new Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.

In his remarks on the NPF-NCCC facility, Dr. ’Tijani stated that as the Ministry strives to position Nigeria as a destination for Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs), improved cybersecurity will play a critical role in ensuring that the stakeholders create the right environment for investors and local stakeholders to operate and thrive.

The Minister, through his verified social media account, also wrote: “We hope to continue to find ways to leverage technology to support the stellar work of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in addressing cybercrime and other security challenges.â€
