The Nigerian Government has emphasised the need to promote African-centric leadership in building Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for provision of scalable, affordable, and inclusive public services to consumers.

绿帽献妻 reports Dr. 鈥橞osun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), stated this in his opening speech at the 17th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV 2024), held in Pretoria, South Africa (SA).

Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), represented Dr. Tijani at the international conference, underscored the FMCIDE Minister鈥檚 leadership in promoting African-centric Digital Public Infrastructure.

Inuwa stressed the need for 鈥渟calable, affordable, and inclusive public services鈥� in Nigeria, and the rest of the African continent.

The Director-General of NITDA also identified three key pillars for DPI success in the digital ecosystem.

He listed the DPI success pillars to include digital identity, payment systems, and data exchange platforms, noting Nigeria’s progress in these areas, and urged African nations to invest in broadband, digital literacy, cybersecurity, and data sovereignty.
