Alleged N110.2bn Fraud: Court summons ex-Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello in 16-count fresh charges

A High Court of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has issued public summons against Mr. Yahaya Bello, immediate past Governor of Kogi State, to attend court and answer to a fresh 16-count pending allegations against him.

Justice Maryanne Anenih issued the order for public summons in a ruling handed down Thursday, October 3, 2024, following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ learnt sequel to the public summons, Bello is expected to attend the court session October 24 this year, both in response to the summons and for his actual arraignment along with two other defendants.

The two other defendants in the court charge document are Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, according to report.

The Justice also ordered the EFCC to publish the public summons in a widely circulating newspaper.

Besides, the court ordered the anti-graft regulatory Commission to paste copies of the public summons at Bello’s last known address and in conspicuous places on court premises.

Earlier, the Commission had claimed that it was unable to erstwhile Kogi Governor Bello with the charge filed September 24, 2024.

The charge noted the EFCC has accused him and two others of criminal breach of trust to the tune of N110.4billion of taxpayers’ money in the confluence state.
