Amid the recent controversies generated by the submission of the Nigerian Tax Reforms Bills 2024 for consideration and passage by the National Assembly (NASS), the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee has collated and offered reliable answers to some 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Nigeria’s Tax Reforms Bills.

Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Monday, November 11, 2024, released the document bearing the explanations on the new tax reforms bill via his verified social media account.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ had reported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, last month, had forwarded the bills to the National Assembly (NASS), requesting the Federal lawmakers to consider and pass four tax reforms bills, including the Nigeria tax bill, the tax administration bill, and the joint revenue board establishment bill respectively.

The new Tax Reforms Bills, nonetheless, have continued to generate a lot of controversies, meeting some much resistance from especially the Northern part of the country.

Nigeria’s National Executive Council (NEC) recently also urged advising the president to withdraw the bills.

Commenting on the genesis of the current controversies over the tax reforms bills currently in the National Assembly (NASS) through his verified social media account Monday, November 11, 2024, Mr. Oyedele stated: “It is not unusual for a major reform, such as this to elicit keen interest from all stakeholders.

“This development is necessary to achieve the best outcomes that benefit all as it provides an opportunity for further engagements which is healthy for the system.â€
