Cybercrimes: EFCC nabs 120 alleged fraudsters, seizes 26 vehicles, jewellery, others in Lagos

*The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission reveals how its operatives apprehended 120 suspected Internet fraudsters across Lagos State of Nigeria

Sequel to credible intelligence and sustained surveillance about their nefarious activities in cyberspace, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said its operatives arrested 120 suspects for Internet fraud, in Lagos State.

The EFCC, in a statement posted via its official X account Monday, May 19, 2025, disclosed its operatives from the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 coordinated the sting operation across various locations in the South-West state.

The anti-graft regulatory Commission also said the operation led to the recovery of 26 exotic vehicles, alongside luxury jewellery, mobile phones, laptops, as well as several incriminating documents from the suspected fraudsters.

According to the Commission, there were 95 males and 25 females among those arrested.

The suspects were all apprehended, based on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance concerning their alleged involvement in cyber-related crimes in Lagos State.

All Internet fraud suspects are currently undergoing further investigation, and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigative process, the EFCC stated.
