Energy: NNPCL shuts Port-Harcourt Refinery for maintenance, sustainability assessment

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the Port-Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will be shut for a scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment.

Olufemi O. Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NNPC Limited, who disclosed this in a statement, said the scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment of the oil-refining facility would begin Saturday, May 24, 2025.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the Port Harcourt Refinery is one of the state-owned plants, which recently came back on stream under the leadership of Malam Mele Kyari, immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the company.

The statement noted the NNPCL is working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that the maintenance and assessment activities are carried out efficiently and transparently.

Soneye also stated: “NNPC Limited remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering sustainable energy security for Nigeria. “Further updates will be provided regularly through our official channels, including our Web site, media platforms, and public statements.â€
