President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the passing of former Nigerian Muhammadu Buhari, his predecessor in office.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the Federal Government disclosed ex-President Buhari died Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London, United Kingdom (UK), at about 4.30 p.m., following a prolonged illness.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, also stated President Tinubu had since spoken with Mrs. Aisha Buhari, former President’s widow, and he offered his deep condolences.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has ordered Vice-President Kashim Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany late President Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.

Former President Buhari was twice elected as Nigerian President 2015 and 2019 respectively for two terms of office.

The deceased had served as the country’s Military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has ordered flags at half-staff as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
