Zinox Technologies, an Integrated ICT solution company and Nigerian Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in conjunction with KongaCares has activated the tech company’s ambitious one-computer-per-child programme designed to provide a million young Nigerians with laptops and supporting digital infrastructure in the ecosystem.

Zinox said the ambitious interest-free “Computerise Nigeria” initiative, is a transformative corporate social responsibility programme designed to support the government’s vision to produce world-class human capital from Nigerian higher institutions.

Describing the activation experience of the ‘Computerise Nigeria Initiative’ at the gathering, Zinox Technologies affirmed that GITEX Nigeria 2025 was not only a great success but a landmark event that showcased the country’s rising stature in the global technology space.

The occasion also attracted thousands of technology professionals and stakeholders from across the African continent.

Among the most astounding highlights of the tech event was the official unveiling of the “Computerise Nigeria Initiative” by Zinox Technologies, the West African country’s integrated ICT solution company and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) in partnership with KongaCares, at the Eko Convention Centre, in Lagos.

Zinox stated its ambitious one-computer-per-child programme aims to provide at least a million young Nigerians with laptops and supporting digital infrastructure in the the country.

The scheme “represents one of the boldest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in Nigeria’s tech sector,” said Zinox Technologies.

Designed as a holistic intervention, the conglomerate further explained the initiative promises not just devices but also uninterrupted power solutions through iPower inverters, reliable satellite Internet connectivity powered by Starlink, and ongoing training and after-sales support.

The launch event attracted a gathering of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector giants, including Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group; Mrs. Kelechi Eze-Okonta, Managing Director of Zinox Technologies; Dave Omoregie, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Konga Group; and Ajibade Laolu-Adewale, Executive Director at Wema Bank and current Executive Chairman of CeBIH.

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) was prominently represented by its leadership team, including Dr. Muhammed Sirajo Aliyu (President), Dr. Charles Onyeukwu (Deputy President), Segun Adekunle (Executive Secretary), and Veronica Owolabi (Provost).

Why ‘Computerise Nigeria Initiative’, by Zinox Chief Executive

Mrs. Eze-Okonta, Managing Director of Zinox Technologies, commencing the programme, welcomed distinguished guests, and providing insights into Zinox’s extensive operations across the country.

She also said Zinox maintains a footprint across all 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria.

Eze-Okonta stressed the company’s footprints and extensive operations across Nigeria is positioning Zinox Technologies to execute this nationwide initiative.

The Managing Director said: “If you don’t digitise the education system, you can’t digitise the economy.”

Mrs. Eze-Okonta as well highlighted Zinox’s reputation for venturing into uncharted territories to support the country’s educational advancement.

In his address on the occasion, Dr. Aliyu commended Zinox Technologies for its consistent leadership and innovation.

The President of NCS noted the company has continued to provide affordable solutions that directly support digital education.

He also applauded the company’s initiative as part of landmark effort that could transform classrooms nationwide.

Dr. Aliyu particularly thanked Leo Stan Ekeh for his unwavering support to NCS, education, and Nigeria’s broader digital transformation journey.

Laolu-Adewale of Wema Bank hailed Zinox Technologies for its sustained belief in Nigeria’s digital economy potential.

He further shared insights into CeBIH’s activities.

Laolu-Adewale urged both government and private sector entities to increase investments in science and technology education, recognising these sectors as fundamental drivers of economic advancement.

The event’s climax came with Dr. Ekeh’s financial support for the digital education initiatives in Nigeria.

He restated his commitment to the Nigeria Computer Society, as he donated ₦10 million to support the NCS activities.

Besides, the Chairman of Zinox Group also presented ₦5 million special donation to Mrs. Veronica Owolabi, Provost NCS, in recognition of her exceptional dedication and hard work toward promoting technology education across Nigeria.

Ekeh further articulated his comprehensive vision of seeing every educational institution, from primary schools to universities, fully equipped with appropriate digital resources.

He emphasised the urgent need to create a digitally-oriented lifestyle among Nigerians.

The Chairman urged robust support from government agencies, religious organisations, and other stakeholders in this transformative endeavour.

On education and ‘Computerise Nigeria Initiative’

Zinox Group noted that at the heart of the Computerise Nigeria Initiative is the vision of each child to a computer.

The company disclosed with flexible, interest-free payment options available, the programme is designed to break financial barriers and make access to technology inclusive.

It stated this model is backed by quarterly donor reports, ensuring that contributors, whether government agencies, alumni associations, NGOs, or well-meaning Nigerians, see how their support is transforming classrooms and communities.

The initiative addresses a critical gap in Nigeria’s educational infrastructure, where many institutions struggle to provide students with adequate exposure to modern computing technologies, Zinox Technologies said.

By democratising access to premium digital resources, the company explained the programme “aims to level the playing field and ensure that geographical location or economic circumstances do not determine a student’s digital future.”
